The foundation “Bergens forskningsstiftelse, originally named “Bergens medisinske forskningsstiftelse”, was established by Frank Mohn AS in Articles of association of 22 December 2004.
The foundation gives grants toward research and research supporting activities at the University of Bergen and Haukeland University Hospital. It also gives grants to support research at the University of Bergen and Haukeland University Hospital at the interface between basic research and clinical research.
At the turn of 2013/2014 “Bergens medisinske forskningsstiftelse”, “Bergens forskningsstiftelse” and “Frank Mohns Stiftelse” merged. The capital of the merged foundation was NOK 1200 million, and before merging the three foundations granted totally NOK 385 millions to various projects.
By the end of 2014 the capital of “Bergens forskningsstiftelse” is NOK 2200 million. Since the start the foundation has granted totally NOK 438 millions to various projects.
